I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there’s something about this time of year that really draws me to the classics of British style and British heritage brands. From Alexa Chung and her Barbour jackets at Glastonbury, to timeless & classic Burberry advertisements throughout the last century, there’s something about that quintessential look I just love.
On top of my list of favourite British brands (at the moment) are two beautiful independent brands: Cawley Studios and &Daughter. Cawley makes the most beautiful shearling coats and vests, and these waxed mac jackets that feel reminiscent of a bygone era (in the absolute coolest, most chic way). &Daughter do knitwear in a way that I feel really respects the land, the animals, and the makers involved, and the pieces are just so timeless. I have a cardigan from them (pictured above) that I know I’ll have for years and years to come. I also have my eye on this slouchy knit, made of a wool/cashmere blend. I think that’s what I love so much about British fashion: so much of it is made with a true focus on craftsmanship, quality, and longevity, which I really admire.
Anyways, there was no real “point” to this blog post, but I wanted to get these musings out of my head and onto the page (er, screen). We’re going to London in just a couple days and I am so excited to really lean into these styles!
