Launching a blog in 2020? What’s up with that, is Club Penguin a thing again now too? Truth is, this site has been a long time coming. Lately (and in waves for a few years) I’ve been dreaming of creating a corner of the internet to write, share photos, and just generally inspire myself to flex my creative muscles more frequently. Working in such an analytical field, while I love it, has thrown me out of balance; this is my way of realigning the left and right hemispheres of my brain, so to speak. I picture this blog revolving around my interests in interiors, style, travel, and simply living well and beautifully. I hope to dive into things that inspire me, think a little deeper, and ultimately be a resource for others. But I’m sure this ethos will evolve and develop as time goes on, as most things in life tend to do.
Now, what’s in a name? There are two components to the name of the site. The linen speaks to my love of fashion, interiors, and sustainability. Plus there’s nothing quite like a warm summer day, in a linen dress, feeling the sun on your skin. Just the thought of it makes me feel giddy for warmer days to come. Rose represents my middle name, authenticity, and natural beauty.
The process of physically bringing this site into the world has been a long one. It’s been months of procrastination, encouragement from friends, mental flip-flopping, and finally a feeling of conviction to just put myself out there. I want this to be a place where we all feel empowered in ourselves, in our buying choices, and in the power we have to create tiny, beautiful worlds.
Today, I’ve been relaxing at home, trying to clean up a few things around the apartment, and making a pound cake. It’s been five months since I moved in and the space is finally starting to really come together. Outside, it’s a typical early spring day in Toronto: grey, wet, and not overly inspiring. My goal is to create a space that feels the opposite. Until the weather changes its tune, here’s to damp, quiet days spent indoors.
